Arise and Walk Ministries Foundation (www.awmfoundation.org) is a medical mission organization founded in 1999 jointly with my husband Dr. Mark J. Wade.  Arise and Walk works together with local churches and organization to bring the much needed healthcare to the poor world wide.  During a mission trip to the Dominican Republic with Bethel Gospel Assembly/Urban & Global Mission Alliance, I met the Sallas family. Every morning we would pack-up and ride to a town where we provided free medical care to the local people.  It was in the town of Sabana de la Mar that I met the Sallas family.  The town where they live is a poor town in the Dominican Republic where the homes are primarily made of wood with tin roofs.  Here in this humble town, Ms. Sallas, a 25 year old mother of four children ages 8, 7, 6 and 2 years old, lives her life as a single mother that struggles day to day to survive.  She was so very grateful to see the medical and dental team.  She said that she knew her children needed care but she could not afford the healthcare that they needed.

BUT GOD SENT US TO HELP THEM!  They all needed medical attention and dental care.  Ms. Sallas and her children all received medical and dental care, they received over the counted medications, toothbrushes, tooth paste and other toiletries.  Needless to say the entire family was so happy that at the end of the day, they returned to give the dental team kisses and hugs for our work.  It is this wonderful feeling that we left with; the feeling that we made a difference in the lives of those we touched.
